Mount the Frame to Your Plate
Remove your existing plate with a standard screwdriver. Bolt the PlateVanish frame directly onto your factory plate holes using the included hardware — frame mounts straight onto your existing plate bolt holes.
Connect the Plate Wire to the Control Box
Run the included wire from the frame to the control box — the longest wire is for the rear plate, slightly shorter for the front (double kit only). The control box sits discreetly inside your vehicle.
Plug Into Your 12V Cigarette Lighter
The control box plugs into your 12V cigarette lighter port. To get the wire cleanly into the cabin, most people route it through their trunk light opening — On supported vehicles you can pass it through the trunk light opening. If yours doesn't have one, a small hole through the bumper keeps it tidy. Prefer no cigarette lighter? Request our direct battery connection wire. The LED indicator inside shows plate status at a glance.

Are stealth license plate covers legal?
PlateVanish systems are designed exclusively for off-road use only — car shows, track events, and photo shoots. When the curtain or flipper is not activated, your license plate is completely visible and unobstructed. Laws regarding license plate concealment vary by state and country. Always verify your local vehicle regulations before use. PlateVanish will not be held responsible for any legal consequences arising from misuse on public roads.
What is the difference between a plate curtain, flipper, blackout, and fogger?
A plate curtain slides a black panel down over the face of the plate in under 2 seconds — minimal clearance required, ideal for modern vehicles with tight bumpers. A plate flipper rotates the plate 180 degrees using a motorized hinge — requires more rear clearance. A blackout plate uses an LCD panel that switches from transparent to fully opaque electronically. A plate fogger creates a visual distortion over the plate using a PDLC privacy film. All five systems are remote-controlled from up to 50 meters.
How do I know it will fit my vehicle?
Every PlateVanish kit includes exact frame dimensions on the product page. The curtain and flipper systems are designed for standard USA and Canada plates (300mm x 150mm / 12" x 6"). Compatible with most makes and models — slight modifications may be needed for some vehicles with rear cameras or tight bumper designs. How long does installation take?
Most customers complete installation in 15 to 25 minutes. You only need a standard screwdriver. Mount the frame to your existing plate bolt holes, run the wire to the control box, and plug into your 12V cigarette lighter — frame mounts to your existing plate bolt holes. To route the wire cleanly into the cabin, most vehicles have a trunk light opening you can pass it through. If your vehicle doesn't have one, a small hole through the bumper keeps the wire hidden.
